Dear Maggie,
You told me that you said to write so I thought I would write to you and let you hear from me.  All are well hoping you and the rest are well. Write real soon, from your friend Bessie Leitch, Bowie P.O. B. S.R. S. C.  Mr. W. D. Leitch.

  1. Now that is a unique way to spell Neumeister.

    :)

I think this is the sender (the census taker really did a number on that name too):

    What do you think the P.O. B. S.R. S. C. means?

  2. I know! It's so way off from Neumeister, I didn't think anyone would buy it, so I left the name as it appears on the postcard. It's the only possibility in Baltimore Co. that begins Neu* or New* that is reasonably close. I think the P.O. part is "Bowie Post Office" but the remaining B.S.R.S.C. is baffling to me.

  3. If I am recalling correctly the Rossville Post Office was in the Stemmers Run train station in 1909. Think P.O.B.S.R.C might be Post Office Box Stemmers Run Station C__. the C I have no idea what that would mean.
